Google Dictionary

Google Dictionary Extension is a free online dictionary service provided by Google with the “define” operator and other related expressions in Google Search. It is also accessible through Google Translate and as a Chrome add-on. OxfordDictionaries.com of Oxford University Press has granted permission to use its dictionary content. It is offered in a variety of tongues, including English, Spanish, and French.

View definitions conveniently while you search the internet.

Important:

  • Tabs that were open previous to installation will not function with the pop-up bubble. Restart Chrome or reload your open tabs after installing this Google Dictionary extension.
  • Take note that on Chrome Web Store pages, all Google Dictionary Extensions are disabled (including this one). Don’t try to test the extension, it will not work!
  • Please make sure the Google Dictionary Extension is up to date if it’s not functioning properly for you. After clicking “Update extensions now” at chrome:/extensions, Chrome will restart.

Thing you can do with Google Dictionary Extension:

  • Double-click any word to bring up a brief pop-up bubble with its description.
  • Use the toolbar dictionary to get the full definition of any word or phrase.
  • Save the terms you’ve looked up in your history so you may review them later.

Any foreign word will be translated automatically to your preferred language.

This Google Dictionary Extension will save a history of all the terms you have looked up and their definitions if you want to enable it (through the preferences page).

This history is available for download at any time as a CSV file. You may also grant access to this history to other Chrome extensions.

For instance, a third-party add-on may create flashcards to assist you in reviewing phrases you’ve already looked up.
